Position Purpose

The Prevention Specialist delivers HIV/HCV testing services, syringe access and educational. The ability to adhere to a schedule and to work both independently within the community and within a team setting is necessary. This position will work to empower clients to navigate medical and social systems on their own utilizing a client centered approach. The Prevention Specialist is responsible for providing PrEP referrals, HIV/HCV testing and outreach, risk reduction counseling, syringe access and facilitate HIV/HCV and harm reduction trainings. One-on-one contact providing referral and access to health, social and other services will be a primary responsibility of this position. A flexible schedule is required as the job calls for some evenings and occasional weekends.

This Prevention Specialist position is responsible for providing the full array of Prevention Services.

Essential Functions

Facilitates dynamic, interactive group-level education presentations about viral hepatitis, co-infection, harm reduction, HIV/STIs, PrEP and other liver disease states.Identifies opportunities to provide outreach, education, and testing to additional populations and individuals in the community.Conduct confidential point-of-care HIV/HCV testing, counseling and referrals in accordance with state guidelines, to individuals with increased risk of HIV/HCV, in non-clinical settings.Provides liver health, viral hepatitis, co-infection, harm reduction, HIV/STIs, prevention education to community-based organizations and clientele.Maintains accurate, up-to-date client records and submits proper documentation to Director of Prevention Services.Provides client centered one-on-one linkage to care for individuals seeking care for liver disease, HIV, PrEP and/or other health related issues.Provide syringe access services and outreach to PWID, including overdose prevention training and materials.Complies with CDPHE, DDPHE, HIPAA, and OSHA regulations as well as Vivent Health internal policies and procedures.Assists with creating and updating course content for educational presentations.Submits monthly statistical and narrative reports as required to the Director of Prevention ServicesComplies with and participates in Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement processes.Assists with testing booths at community health and outreach events (e.g. PrideFest, Project Homeless Connect, etc.) as needed.Maintains appropriate number of test kits, controls, and supplies (office and outreach).Record all contacts and activities in assigned data collection system.Participate in daily activities and functions that help maintain overall Vivent Health operations, as well as Prevention Services.Participates in workgroups and tasks forces as assigned.Attend all training events and staff meetings as assigned.Implement special projects and perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree, bachelor's degree or past experience in public health or a related field strongly preferred.2+ years of experience in customer service or a community based role.Must have a valid driver's license.Willingness to work evenings and weekends.Knowledge of Harm Reduction Principals, STDs, HCV and HIV transmission, and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis.Experience working with diverse populations, PWID populations and LGTBQ+ focused spaces.Previous experience with public health community outreach and education and/or syringe access services or lived experience preferred.Training in HIV screening/counseling and testing preferred.Training in motivational interviewing preferred.Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the above requirements.Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2+ hours) and ability to lift up to 20 pounds.Understanding of and sensitivity to HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, AODA issues, and Substance Use.Understanding of the Harm Reduction Philosophy.Ability to work around injection materials and harm reduction supplies.Demonstrated cultural competency including the ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with individuals from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.Ability to complete work assignments with minimal supervision, thoroughness and efficiency.Dependability and punctuality.Working knowledge of Word, internet, and database.Working knowledge of Spanish language (bilingual) is a plus.

Salary:

Starting $21.00 - $22.00/hour (Depending on Experience)
