Overview GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Senior Network Engineer is a technical specialist role in the Network administration area supporting local and wide area networks in a multi platform, protocol, and operating system environment. Responsibilities MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Director of Network and Telecom, provides third level support to end users Plans, procures, installs and maintains local and wide area networks in a multi protocol environment Reviews products and recommends acquisition or modification of hardware, software or contract services Monitors network functions and evaluates operations and network performance Involved in the implementation and maintenance of major subsystems Acknowledge and resolve user service requests utilizing the service request management system Frequently contributes to the development of new theories and methods Develops resolutions to complex problems that require frequent use of creativity uses judgement within defined policies Contributes to the development of organizational goals and objectives Represents the organization as the principle customer contact Often performs project leadership duties Performs other duties and responsibilities as required Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Management Systems, or equivalent 7 years of related work experience including project management Excellent oral and written communication skills Valid drivers license and dependable transportation. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Public Cloud provider experience specifically AWS and Azure and ways to interconnect to from premises data centers to the cloud via AWS Direct Connect and Azure Express Route Azure cloud experience in the following areas: software defined networking, VNETs and VNET peering, private and service endpoints, network insights, application gateway and load balancers, Azure NSGs and Firewalls Experience with automation integration, NetOps integration and associated principles and solutions Solid understanding of basic IP addressing constructs such as CIDR IP ranges and subnetting Understanding of basic Layer 2 technologies such as VLANs, IEEE 802.1.q, LACP protocol, and switch to switch port-channel configuration and setups Extensive routing protocol configuration experience with designing, configuring and troubleshooting complex BGP configurations in a JunOS (Juniper Networks) environment Candidate should have an understanding on how to create advanced BGP routing configurations that will take advantage of various techniques to provide optimal outbound and inbound Internet routing, servicing multiple geographical locations, each with their own access Some operational experience with OSPF routing on Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks and Dell-OS 10 switching platforms Administration or setup of Palo Alto Networks firewalls with a deep understanding of PanOS, and Panorama policy management Candidate should be comfortable with testing and working in a virtual or physical lab to test all network configurations before deployment Expected to produce meaningful documentation using tools like Visio to provide final configuration artifacts for turnover to an operations team Advanced troubleshooting skills for resolving routing issues. Also, some knowledge and use of Wireshark to capture and analysis of packet flows for the troubleshooting of application or network performance issues Some experience with Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, Python) is a plus Knowledge of implementation and troubleshooting of Layer 2-3 switching technologies from Cisco Systems, well as Checkpoint firewall configuration and setup Working knowledge of F5 load balancer configuration and management with interaction of DNS components Experience with the implementation and configuration of Enterprise class firewalls from Palo Alto Technologies. Understand firewall integration, rule creation, and safeguard policy configuration Demonstrate a clear understanding and expertise for deployment of networking technologies in a virtualized environment and be able to present these concepts in conjunction with the Medical Schools Networking team Working knowledge and use of network troubleshooting tools to solve complex network problems from SolarWinds Orion and Riverbeds Application Performance Management systems Palo Alto, CISCO CCNP, Checkpoint CCSA Proven ability to create network designs with associated Bill of Materials and configuration Development of network product roadmaps and features Creation of product comparison tables as supporting details for recommendations Contribute to and define requirements for network projects Remain in touch with new and current vendor solutions, services and products Deliver professional services such as network assessment, migration, and troubleshooting for net new and changes to various network environments Additional Information LI-AT1
