The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan seeks a detail-oriented and strategically minded Senior Financial Planning Analyst to join our finance team. The Senior FP+A's responsibilities include assisting with financial planning and budgeting processes, analyzing financial statements and reports, developing financial models, preparing projections, and performing research and analysis as leadership may require. You will also provide teams with financial guidance and assist with monthly close processes.
To succeed as a Senior FP+A, you should be able to perform various financial activities, including planning, analysis, budgeting, and reporting. You should also have strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and be able to present financial information and models concisely and easily comprehensibly.
Job Overview:
Preparation of the organization's annual operating budget. Tracking and detailed financial analysis of monthly results of operations and quarterly reforecast of income and expenses. Preparation of various reports for grants and departmental budgets.
Annual Financial Budget Report
Starts preparing budget analysis of all JCC Programs during January each year; schedule budget meetings with programmers and department heads to ascertain projection of income and expenses for the fiscal year.
Manages preparation of various budget schedules of Salaries and Fringe Benefits and final assembly of organization's operating budget for the fiscal year.
Manages the preparation of annual budget charts that are presented to the Board of Directors at its various budget meetings throughout the fiscal year.
Monthly Budget Reports
Ensures monthly tracking of organization's departmental budget for income and expenses is made on consistent basis.
Constant internal audit of general ledger transactions for income and expense accounts and consistently checking income transactions against the database system.
Coordinates with JCC Program Directors and Finance staff to consistently track all JCC programs and departmental transactions to ensure the accuracy of records and ensures the Finance Director is notified immediately of any large variances between actual results compared to the Approved Budget.
Prepare journal entries to adjust program income.
Other Financial Reporting
Reviewing and analyzing financial statements and reports.
Tracking KPIs and preparing financial reports.
Understanding key business drivers.
Assisting project teams with financial guidance.
Developing financial projections and building financial models.
Performing research and analysis as required.
Ensuring compliance with financial guidelines, company policies, and relevant legal regulations.
Prepares grant analysis throughout the fiscal year for various departments. Reconciles grants and budgets for organizations as requested.
Work with the Finance Director to record transactions to the general ledger related to payments of restricted pledges.
Maintains restricted funds worksheet and maintains pledges receivable ledger throughout the year.
With the Finance Director, create journal entries for release from restrictions transactions as requested.
Quarterly preparation of JCC financial reports related to bond compliance.
And other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in financial planning, analysis, and modeling.
7+years preferred experience in non-profit accounting
Ability to present financial information to a nonfinancial audience.
Working knowledge of financial strategies.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Detail-oriented and able to perform in a high-pressure environment.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Sage Intacct, or related financial systems, and DAXKO or related CRM system
