Ampact is a national nonprofit that specializes in implementing and scaling evidence-based AmeriCorps programs across three focus areas: education, environment, and healthy futures. Most of the programming at Ampact is focused on education - specifically through the Reading Corps, Math Corps and Early Learning Corps programs. These programs have a 20-year track record in providing high-dosage tutoring to over 50,000 students annually and have been tested rigorously through independent evaluations. Ampact has experienced significant growth in recent years and has ambition for continued growth.Ampact has 325+ employees and 3,500+ AmeriCorps members across 10 states. Its annual operating budget is $115 million. Ampact is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota with employees located in 10 states.100% remote in the following states: MN, FL, CA, VA, WI, IL, ID, NY, GA, MS.The Senior Accountant utilizes accounting and spreadsheet software to perform accounting functions in the areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, payroll and other related accounting duties, and provides support to the Assistant Controller and other department staff as needed. Senior Accountant must observe confidentiality of all accounting, payroll, employee, member and organizational information.

Responsibilities

Essential FunctionsGeneral Accounting Processes (60%):Coordinate monthly and year-end close procedures to ensure a timely close.

Review monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts; identifying and correcting recurring issues.Prepare and distribute monthly departmental and company reporting and resolving issues raised by department leadership.Identify improvements in accounting processes and workflows.Recommend updates to policies and procedures that follow best practices for processing efficiency and accuracy.Maintain and update defined financial systems allocations.Manage regular accounting system maintenance.Ensure In Kind data is updated.Create and maintain both on-going and ad hoc reporting to meet grant and organizational needs. Support Assistant Controller in cash flow projections.Guide and assist Staff Accountant.Budgeting, Analysis and Reporting (30%):Assist the Assistant Controller and Financial Analyst in annual budgeting and forecasting processes.Create metrics and allocations for the budget process as requested.Support grant budget creation and entry.Assist with reforecasting as needed.Help guide creation of allocations that assist in effectively allocating costs across appropriate grants. [1] Ampact | 9.23.2024 Position Description ContinuedUpdate such allocations at least quarterly.Prepare ad hoc analysis as needed and/or requested.Compliance, Auditing and Other (10%):Perform audits to ensure transactions are allowable; coded and allocated accurately; and within the appropriate grant period.Review appropriate documentation and support annual financial and 401K audits as well as grant audits and monitorings.Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education* Associate's degree (required) in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred)Minimum Experience* Minimum of 3 years progressive accounting experience.* Familiarity with AmeriCorps programs a plus* Experience with government funding, grant reporting, non-profit or fund accounting methodologies is a plus* Knowledge of GAAP, FASBs and 2 CFR 200* Advanced knowledge of Excel* Working knowledge of database and accounting computer application systems.* Oracle NetSuite and UKG experience is a plus.* Demonstrated flexibility and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, evolving environment.* Proactive, self-directed individual motivated to continually evaluate and improve processes and procedures.* Excellent analytical, decision-making, time management and organization skills.* Professional demeanor, good interpersonal skills, self-motivated and customer service orientation.*Must have the ability to travel locally, statewide and nationally to attend meetingsPhysical Requirements Ampact is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and will make reasonable accommodations as possible to enable employees to perform the essential functions of their positions.
