Job DescriptionTHE SALVATION ARMYNORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS DIVISION City MissionPOSITION DESCRIPTIONPOSITION TITLE: Partner Abuse Intervention Program FacilitatorLOCATION/DEPT: City MissionREPORTS TO (TITLE): PAIP Program ManagerFLSA CATEGORY: Non-ExemptSTATUS TYPE: FPTDEPARTMENT MISSIONTo assist in accomplishing the mission of The Salvation Army through the coordination of all mission activities, corps and social service, within the City of Chicago.OUTCOMESProvides partner abuse intervention program services to clients within the guidelines of agency policies and procedures. Special functions may be assigned. Develops collaborative partnerships with other Salvation Army units and community partners in order to achieve an integrated model of mission for the program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Direct Treatment/Case ManagementProvides, within agency policies, programs and procedures, partner abuse intervention program groups.Maintains frequent case-related contacts with local resources, collateral sources, public and private agencies and organizations, to advocate on behalf of clients. Refers clients for services as needed.Obtains appropriate Release of Information before a referral is made.In consultation with the supervisor, initiates contact with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services as a mandated reporter when child abuse or neglect is suspected.In Consultation with the supervisor, initiates contact with the Elder Abuse Hotline as a mandated reporter when elder abuse is suspected.Keeps supervisor informed regarding case related subpoenas and attends court when appropriate.Keeps supervisor informed of clients in crisis who may be at-risk, and any situation or incident that may require immediate attention, to prevent harm to anyone by following the agency emergency plan in the Policy and Procedures Manual. In a timely fashion, records such contacts, situations or incidents in case notes.Completes case and statistical recordings, and other required reports and record keeping for assigned clients.Engages in bi-weekly (additional as needed) professional supervision with designated supervisor.Must be able to conduct in-person meeting on Tuesday evenings at our Midway Corps.Maintains awareness of applicable liability issues and other applicable legal issues, and their potential to affect agency and/or clients.Abides by the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics, including NASW standards for cultural competence in social work practice.All other duties as assigned.Intra-Agency ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with other Salvation Army units and personnel to successfully maintain and achieve policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and outcome-based measures related to Hope-Strong.Understands, and can effectively work under, the Mission of The Salvation Army and core values/objectives of City Mission.Continuing EducationWith supervisor knowledge, participates in professional seminars, conferences and workshops to increase professional knowledge and secure certification.Remains abreast of new developments in the PAIP field and consults with the supervisor on their effectiveness and relevancy to clients' needs.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPSThis position reports to the PAIP Program Manager.This position works collaboratively with program staff, corps officers, and social services with the goal of ensuring effective delivery of quality services within the context of mission objectives. In contacts related to this position's duties this individual acts as a representative of The Salvation Army and its mission. PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTSThis individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the successful implementation of Hope-Strong principles in program services Timeliness and accuracy of accomplishing assigned goals within budgetary guidelines will also be reviewed including maintaining a daily interview average established annually.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. The BSW is preferred, but a major in human services is acceptable.Completed 40 hour domestic violence training, or has a plan for completion. Completed 20 hour partner abuse intervention training or has a plan for completion. Previous experience in domestic violence work is preferred.COMPENTENCIES: Knowledge of program components and how to effectively integrate program principles with organizational concepts in order to accomplish mission objectives.An understanding of the mission of The Salvation Army and the programs and services offered.A developing knowledge of the domestic violence field, including and understanding of work with victims and perpetrators.A developing knowledge of how to effectively work with diversity in the workplace.An interpersonal style that promotes a collaborative working relationship with others.Ability to maintain and project a problem solving approach with participants and interagency personnel.A communication style and that contributes to fostering effective team relationships.An understanding of data collection and management, procedure development, and flow of information.Must be sensitive to and work appropriately with culturally and socio-economically diverse client and participant populations.An ability to work with confidential material.A willingness to promote the mission of The Salvation Army.POSITION LIMITATIONSThis individual will only commit Salvation Army resources that have been allocated or approved.This position will keep the PAIP Program Manager informed on all critical issues relating to his/her area of responsibility.This individual will adhere to all Army policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT This position is required to do light physical work.In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard office.Willingness to perform off site activities which could include home visits, work within schools or within community agencies and travel to locations related to the work objectives of the position.The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a low noise level.Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a positive manner; courteous treatment of staff, clients and visitors; respect of others' property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors and subordinates.
