This position is part of a support rotation and weekend/off-hours work is sometimes necessary.
The Integrated Health Practice at IQVIA is looking to add a Sr DBA team to their team of global DBAs. This position shares support responsibility for all relational DBs across several technologies and clouds. The primary skill set of this DBA position is PostgresSQL in Azure but will have exposure to other database technologies and clouds.
The individual will demonstrate knowledge in most of the following areas:
PostgresSQL/Azure:
•Architecture and Deployment Models: Understanding the different deployment options in Azure, such as Single Server, Flexible Server, and Hyperscale (Citus), and how they impact performance, scalability, and management.
•High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Implementing high availability solutions like geo-redundant backups, automated failover, and configuring read replicas to ensure business continuity.
•Security Features: Utilizing Azure's built-in security features, including encryption at rest and in transit, firewall rules, and role-based access control (RBAC) to protect data.
•Performance Tuning and Optimization: Leveraging Azure's monitoring tools and PostgreSQL's native features like indexing, query optimization, and vacuuming to maintain optimal performance.
•Backup and Restore: Configuring automated backups, understanding point-in-time recovery (PITR), and managing backup retention policies to ensure data integrity and availability.
•Scaling and Resource Management: Managing compute and storage resources, scaling up or down based on workload demands, and understanding the cost implications of different resource configurations.
Snowflake:
•SQL Proficiency: Strong knowledge of SQL is fundamental for querying and managing data within Snowflake.
•Data Warehousing Concepts: Understanding data warehousing principles, including data modeling, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and data integration.
•Cloud Computing: Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, as Snowflake operates on these infrastructures.
•Snowflake Architecture: Deep understanding of Snowflake's unique architecture, including its multi-cluster, shared data architecture, and independent scaling of compute and storage resources.
•Performance Tuning: Skills in optimizing query performance and managing resources effectively within Snowflake.
•Security and Compliance: Knowledge of Snowflake's security features and best practices for data protection and compliance.
•Data Migration: Experience with migrating data to Snowflake from other databases or data warehouses.
•Automation and Scripting: Proficiency in using SnowSQL (Snowflake's command-line interface) and scripting languages like Python for automation.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $105,800.00 - $176,300.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
