Clinical Surveillance SpecialistLocation:

Initial 6-month contract (40 hours per week), with a high likelihood of extensionDepartment Overview:The Clinical Surveillance Specialist will be part of a dynamic and growing team that supports hospitals by providing infection prevention services, typically handled by in-house infection control departments. This team works closely with hospitals across various settings to identify infections, implement preventive measures, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to reduce infection risks. The program is expanding rapidly, currently supporting numerous hospital contracts, and offers an opportunity to contribute to critical healthcare services remotely.Key Responsibilities:Conduct remote infection surveillance using NHSN definitions and client-specific guidelines.Regularly access and review patients' electronic medical records (EMRs) to track and identify infections, and complete necessary surveillance documentation.Engage in daily team meetings to discuss findings, raise questions, and collaborate on action plans.Provide infection prevention recommendations and interventions based on surveillance data and findings.Deliver training to hospital teams on NHSN and TheraDoc applications, ensuring they understand and efficiently use the tools for infection tracking.Support onboarding of new team members and become proficient in the use of clinical surveillance tools.Work with a close-knit team of infection prevention professionals to address questions, share insights, and collaboratively manage contracts.Lead change management initiatives with hospital clinicians and leadership teams, ensuring smooth implementation of infection control measures.Analyze hospital workflows to improve infection surveillance processes and ensure accurate reporting.Adapt to evolving roles based on new contracts and specific strengths within the team.Required Skills and Qualifications:Certified in Infection Control (CIC) Required.Extensive experience in infection prevention and surveillance within hospital settings.Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMRs) and clinical surveillance tools such as TheraDoc, Meditech, and Bugsy (preferred).Strong understanding and application of NHSN Infection Surveillance definitions.Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with both internal teams and external healthcare providers.Ability to perform detailed computer-based work, including documentation and analysis, in a remote environment.Experience in public health, epidemiology, nursing, microbiology, or a related field.Prior experience in hospital infection prevention departments or related clinical roles.Preferred Experience:Proven track record in infection surveillance and prevention, particularly in clinical environments.Knowledge of clinical decision support systems and hospital EMR platforms.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.Educational Requirements:Minimum:

Bachelors degree in a healthcare-related field such as Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology, or Medical Laboratory Sciences.Preferred:

Masters degree (MA, MS, MBA, MPH) in a relevant discipline.
