Candidates will evaluate and analyze risks for acceptability based on underwriting guidelines and individual risk characteristics. Candidates will have extensive experience in their area of expertise and will have a strategic plan for building a book of business.This position will report to the Excess Underwriting Manager and be based in our Westlake, TX office or remote for qualified candidates. This position will have responsibility for:Building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with agents/brokersManaging a profitable book of Excess Liability business including review of new business, renewal business, and mid-term endorsementsExecuting on deliverables for quoting/binding business based on Service Level CommitmentsOperating within a defined authority statementExercising sound underwriting judgement as it relates to pricing, terms & conditions, applications, underlying schedules, etc.Working independently with limited support and sporadically referring business to Manager or SVP of underwritingMentoring/developing junior level underwritersOther duties as assignedRequirementsMinimum 4-7 years insurance underwriting experience in retail, wholesale, and/or insurance company space.General Liability and Excess Liability experienceBachelor's degree and/or relevant industry designations/industry experience preferredSalary Commensurate with experience
