We are seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst-Clinical
who will manage a $300-400 million portfolio of clinical departments and uses data to drive analyses that inform decisions around financial goals, objectives and performance. This role meets regularly with departmental points of contact to ensure two-way communication for advocacy, knowledge transfer, and a shared understanding of financial activities.
Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesCoordinatesManages a portfolio of clinical departments by performing complex financial analysis and providing financial consultation and direction.Meets regularly with departments to ensure two-way communication to create advocacy for the department, knowledge transfer, and a shared understanding of financial activities.Supports the financial business activities of departments including developing school budgets, scenario planning, predictive analysis, financial modeling, variances, and forecasting.AppliesObtains knowledge on the departments and their financial activities through regular meetings and communications to determine how to advocate for departments during conversations with JHM and JHU.Creates/Prepares/DevelopsAssists in the preparation of budgets, scenario planning, long-range planning, financial modeling, variances, forecasting, projections, financial plans and reports, and other types of complex analysis, involving the review of significant amounts of data.Analyzes/InterpretsAnalyzes the financial activities of the department to assist in the preparation of departmental and school budgets, planning, modeling, and reports.Provides recommendations to critical financial business decisions.Extracts financial data from various accounting and information systems to perform related reviews.ManagesManages the portfolio of clinical departments and the completeness and accuracy of their financial activities.Problem SolvingAdvocates for departments to ensure they are receiving funding for their activities and can hire staff and faculty.Thinking CriticallyMonitors financial metrics performance, develops models and reports, and ensures two-way communications with departments to determine the financial performance of the departments and if a corrective action plan is warranted.Trains/CommunicatesEnsures department administrators have the necessary information, skills, and support to perform their financial activities.CollaboratesPartners with Senior Director, Clinical, Other Clinical FP&A analysts; SOM department directors, administrators, and staff; JHM/JHU Budget, Central Finance, JHM/JHHS/JHU Finance to complete daily tasks.Special Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesAdvanced knowledge in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications.Experience with other data reporting tools.Strong customer service orientation and focus on details, accuracy and meeting pre-determined deadlines.Understanding of and commitment to the mission.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field.Five years of progressively responsible financial and business operations experience, preferably in a large and complex organization.
Advanced Excel skills, with demonstrated knowledge of Pivot tables, formulas and other functions required. also required.
Proven communication, organizational, and analytic skills in a complex organization.
Ability to analyze data for budgeting, operations, auditing, accounts receivable, and reserve analysis.Additional education (master's in a related field) may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.Preferred Qualifications
Experience in research financial management and clinical department business operations.
