SUMMARY

Sr. Accountant is responsible for all accounting functions including detailed variance analysis for all assigned compound plant sites. The position interfaces daily with the assigned plant manager and leadership team to provide accounting support for the site. He/she will ensure that accounting controls are maintained and that the plants' financial objectives are understood by the plant leadership team. The Sr. Accountant will be required to apply accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.

ACCOUNTING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:This position operates with a minimum of direct supervision and requires a self-starter who works well individually and in a team environmentAccountant for Compounds plant sites as assignedResponsible for month end close, journal entries, and trial balance reviewsResponsible for all assigned monthly/quarterly account reconciliationsResponsible for plant month end reports including variance analysis with detailed variance explanationsReview and identify inconsistencies in how costs are applied that may need correctionCommunicate manufacturing costs to Plant Managers and provide detailed reports as neededAssist the Accounting Manager with the monthly forecastAssist with the implementation of any new IT systems to ensure the accuracy of the financial statements generated by the businessAssist in maintaining internal control and SOX complianceDesign and prepare ad hoc reports as requested by Division Controller, Accounting Manager or other Compounds ManagersSupport ad hoc business analysis and reporting requests from plant managers and/or other Compounds ManagersResponsible for the development of the annual budget including loading budget data into the SAP systemAssist with internal and external audit requestsOther projects and duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Accounting ManagerPerform the primary thinking encompassed by this job descriptionComply with all Company policies and proceduresFully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teamsAny additional responsibilities or tasks as assignedEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Accounting with progressive technical and operational business experience preferably in a petrochemical or related field8 + years of relevant experience in accounting related fieldsCPA and MBA are preferredERP experience; strong preference for SAPStrong financial analysis and cost accounting experience is preferredThe individual must have a high degree of competency with spreadsheet programs, including EXCELStrong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel up to 10% including air travel or auto travel.
