Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides specialized care for critically ill infants requiring advanced monitoring and intervention. This role involves working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, utilizing strong clinical judgment, advanced knowledge, and critical thinking skills to manage high-acuity patients.
Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Deliver comprehensive nursing care to neonates with life-threatening conditions, ensuring all interventions are tailored to meet individual needs.
  • Monitoring: Conduct continuous assessments and monitor vital signs, providing prompt intervention for any changes in the infant’s condition.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
  • Education: Educate families on infant care and the NICU environment, fostering a supportive and informative atmosphere.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes using electronic health record systems, including EPIC.
Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of ICU experience preferred; experience in a NICU setting is an asset.
Skills
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer charting and familiarity with electronic health record systems, specifically EPIC.
  • Critical Thinking: Strong ability to analyze complex situations and make sound decisions quickly.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, families, and team members.


Certification: Basic Life Support , Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
