Providence Research is now accepting applications for a net new, permanent full-time Director, Administration.Reporting to the Executive Director Operations, Providence Research (PR) and the Faculty of Medicine (FoM) at the University of British Columbia, the Director Administration is an integrated role that provides the critical linkage between Providence Health Care (PHC) and UBC FoM. The Director, Administration provides oversight and leadership for PR’s administrative team adhering to PR, PHC and UBC policies and procedures. The Director oversees the areas of Finance, Human Resources (including managing and directing staff), and the research portfolio in alignment with PR and the UBC FoM.The Director, Administration is central to the management of PR’s day-to-day administrative needs to ensure the team functions effectively in support of PR’s overarching goals. The Director, Administration has responsibility for coordinating PR-wide administrative goals and initiatives to enable scientific excellence, continuous planning, quality improvement, and risk management.What You Bring

Education, Training and ExperienceMaster’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or Project Management plus ten (10) years of experience in research management and administration that includes at least two (2) years’ experience in leadership of management and administration staff within a research centre or department or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of financial, human resources and administrative methodologies to recommend organizational standards and practices and to build capacity.Knowledge of legal requirements related to administrative and business operations.Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate teamwork, inter-department and inter-agency coordination and inter-disciplinary communication. Conflict resolution skills is an asset.Strategic and project management, planning and execution skills. Ability to use excellent judgement in the evaluation of new initiatives and programs.Demonstrated creativity and originality in problem identification and resolution and ability to communicate with and facilitate dialogue between diverse groups.Exceptional organizational and multitasking skill, with a keen attention to detail.Ability to thrive in a fast paced-and dynamic environment, managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.Proven experience in all aspects of budget development, management, and reporting. Demonstrated experience in scope, time, cost, and quality management.Demonstrated experience in effective leadership skills and ability to provide motivational leadership to direct and indirect reports at all levels.Relationship management to work collegially with teams, staff, executives, collaborators, partners and funders, and proven experience in identifying opportunities to build new or expand existing relationships.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.What We Offer

Competitive salary:

$116,591 - $167,600 CAD per year / $59.56- $85.62 CAD per hour, depending on experience.Comprehensive benefits:

Provides overall leadership and direction to the Finance and Human Resource teams at PR.Works collaboratively with Finance and Accounting departments to ensure departmental financial operations and practices are optimized.Responsible for the operational management of all human resource activities and processes for PR.Works collaboratively with the Executive Director, PR, President, PR and the UBC FoM.Oversees and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the PR finance and human resources staff.Oversees the recruitment of finance and human resources staff members.Engages with cross-institutional partners.Manages, monitors, and supports the performance of all finance and human resource staff.Directs the full scope of financial resources and assets.Creates an effective workforce plan consistent with the PR’s strategic direction.Responsible for the resolution of problems for the administrative areas.Develops and maintains effective working relationships with research groups and team members.Provides leadership in collaboratively establishing priorities for allocation of resources.Performs other related duties as required.We acknowledge that Providence Health Care and the new St. Paul’s Hospital site is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples.
