The ideal Purchasing Manager candidate is highly motivated with a desire to work in a fast-paced, quality-centered environment. This individual will work with sales, manufacturing, and engineering to ensure consistent delivery of material at competitive prices. This individual must have integrity, be a focused team player, and be quality and detail-oriented.Responsibilities:
Oversee and supervise the Purchasing DepartmentDevelop strategic, beneficial relationships with current vendorsNegotiate with vendors to obtain the best possible price and service guaranteeEstablish Purchasing policies and ensure complianceDevelop new supply sources where vendors are inadequateExamine quotes and estimates to identify the most competitive bid and generate purchase orders to obtain materialNegotiate blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitor costsWork closely with the Receiving Department to ensure proper supplies arriveTrace delinquent arrivals from Purchase OrdersComply with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethicsEnsure all members of the Purchasing Department are properly trained in all necessary operating proceduresInitiate and perform tasks that improve efficiency and/or reduce costsParticipate in objective setting, plan development, and plant performance reviewsTrack, analyze, and improve key metrics such as on-time delivery for suppliers, inventory turns, supplier PPM, and material pricingRequest feedback from sales and production regarding customer requirements, specifications, and production capabilitiesOversee subcontracting effortsQualifications:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experienceStrong negotiating skillsStrong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office software and MRP systemExcellent organizational skillsDemonstrated communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organizationSolid decision-making skills
