Join our world-class, innovative team today.Position Specific DescriptionThe Utility Scale Energy Storage team is looking for an innovative and dynamic Project Manager who is passionate about renewable energy. In this position you will be heavily involved with battery augmentation projects from design to execution, to include exposure to cross functional teams across the NextEra Energy Resources organization. You will be part of a growing team of experts who not only provide excellent data-driven inputs and analysis but are also customer service oriented with internal and external stakeholders.Employees in this role are strong problem solvers, blending creative and analytical skills to solve complex integration of batteries of differing technologies to existing sites. Successful candidates will have acute attention to detail with proven abilities to identify and apply lessons learned, implement process countermeasures, create tools and standardize work practices to maximize the efficiency of current and future projects. You will utilize data from various internal and external sources to perform technical due diligence and propose storage & hybrid solutions to support our customers’ evolving needs. As a support function, you will work collaboratively across the organization to support design, construction and commissioning.Duties & ResponsibilitiesManages multiple concurrent high volume battery augmentation projects from conception through execution, working closely with Power Generation, Business Management, Engineering and pre-construction and construction project managersLead early-stage project efforts, including storage sizing, scope of work definition and schedule creationCoordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analysis, engineering/design review, resource analysis and legal reviewLead efforts in brownfield permitting, interconnection agreement modification, and construction RFPsSupports energy storage strategies through technical and market analysisDevelops models and dashboards designed to improve management of projects, enhance team collaboration and identify valuable insights to maximize the benefit to all stakeholdersSupports the composition of contractual arrangements for project developmentParticipates in negotiating agreements with consultants and subcontractorsEnsures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirementsSupports detailed design engineering of major components for augmentation projectsInfluences project teams in the engineering aspects of the technical workCollaborates with suppliers to successfully integrate major equipmentCollaborates with multi-disciplined teams for problem solving, process improvement opportunities, and system integration and controlsIdentifies value engineering opportunities as well as emerging technologies prospectsPerforms other job-related duties as assignedPreferred Work ExperienceAn SME in substation or utility scale energy storage design and/or project management, with established expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Power electronicsBattery storage system designSubstation designGeneration tie design

Management and/or operation of large-scale projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders, including creation and adherence to schedule, budget and resource plansStrong knowledge of technologies in energy storage including varying battery chemistries, power conversion units and DC/DC convertersLithium ion battery storage safety: familiarity with UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, applicable IFC/IBC sectionsFamiliarity with GIA material modification adjustment (MMA) processes, particularly in WECC and CAISOConstruction permitting and contracting experienceShows maturity of technical expertise and assumes responsibility for highly specialized technical objectivesStrong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively conveying technical and non-technical concepts to diverse audiencesJob Overview

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Works collaboratively with resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities and work plans• Meets corporate objectives with limited project management, scheduling and estimating resources• Manages department resources to provide effective early-stage project development support• Ensures projects are efficiently, effectively and safely implemented in accordance with department procedures and policies• Manages walk down of planned work, validates acceptance of completed work to design requirements, approves contractor payment requests• Verifies constructability, ensures proper resource allocations, assesses field status and resolves issues as needed• Leads project meetings and reviews budget, risk tracker, and contingency allocations• Interfaces with project's designated management committees, or acts as Executive Director of project activities• Supervises activities and/or coordinates activities or groups, such as safety programs, engineering, construction, budget, and analysis and contract administration• Oversees commissioning activities to meet corporate objectives, with limited project management, scheduling and estimating resources• Performs other job-related duties as assignedRequired Qualifications
