This position plays an important role in support of Alabama Power Top 10 priorities, particularly with the Employee Experience and Customer Experience by supporting the company’s volunteerism strategy and serving as the Associate Director of the Alabama Power Service Organization (APSO). The CG Specialist is responsible for supporting the APSO program, the Energizers, and strategic relationships with stakeholders across the state. The position ensures volunteer efforts are strategically aligned with Top 10 priorities and partners with departments across Alabama Power and Southern Company employees working in Alabama to manage APSO membership, volunteer hours, and volunteerism data quality and management. The position also assists with planning efforts for APSO, Energizers, and Alabama Power Foundation events.MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Support the company volunteer efforts including the APSO program, and assist with planning various events related to APSO, including the annual APSO Summit and workshops.Interact with the Energizer state and chapter board leadership.Develop strategies to ensure volunteer organization’s efforts are aligned with company Top 10 priorities.Interact with APSO board members to create strategic plans to accomplish goals.Partner with internal teams and departments to develop opportunities for employee teambuilding service projects.Utilize software platforms such as UBack and Salesforce to support APSO’s data management and quality control, as well as provide ongoing reports for tracking purposes.Qualifications:Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree preferred.Previous Alabama Power Foundation experience preferred.Participation or leadership experience in the APSO organization preferred.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesUnderstanding of Alabama Power Top 10 priorities with demonstrated ability to think and plan strategically to ensure volunteer efforts align with company priorities.Exceptional ability to build productive, professional, trusted relationships with members of volunteer organizations to achieve the company’s employee volunteer and business goals.Demonstrated project management skills.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas simply and meaningfully to audiences of diverse backgrounds and levels across the organization.Ability to implement community strategies that advance the company’s goals with key external and internal constituents.Strong listening, creative thinking, analytical, organizational, problem-solving and relationship-building skills.Highly effective interpersonal, consulting and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to work and influence effectively across the organization.Collaborative team player.Able to work independently, multitask and prioritize work, manage projects, and adhere to deadlines.Expertise in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook are required; working knowledge of Salesforce or similar application is a plus.Willingness and ability to travel as needed to attend chapter events, board meetings, and service projects.Behavioral AttributesRole model of Our Values and Code of Ethics.Possesses a positive, customer-first attitude.Takes initiative, ownership of assignments and personal responsibility.Highly motivated and works well with minimal supervision.Highly organized and innovative.Ability to handle tight deadlines, multiple tasks and shifting priorities.Strong team player.Ability to maintain confidentiality.This position will be located at the Alabama Power Corporate Headquarters in Birmingham, AL.
