The Crisis Response Specialist I is a training position for the DCR (Designated Crisis Responder II) position. Under the supervision of a DCR, the CRS I provides telephone and mobile outreach crisis intervention and evaluation services for youth, adults, and families in a behavioral health crisis. The CRS I conducts telephone and face-to-face assessments with or on behalf of individuals whose health or safety is in danger because of a behavioral health disorder. The CRS I collaborates with individuals, family, and community partners to develop and implement viable, less restrictive alternatives to hospitalization in situations where appropriate or assist with the facilitation of inpatient treatment. In partnership with and under the supervision of a Designated Crisis Responder (DCR), perform responsibilities/functions required by the Involuntary Treatment Act (ITA).

This Crisis Response position is on track for a Designated Crisis Responder II (DCR-II). This work will be performed out in the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

Conduct telephone assessments and triage referrals as needed.

Respond to complex crisis situations and conduct face-to-face assessments to make determination-of-need decisions, utilizing advanced assessment skills and FBH standard risk assessments.

In collaboration with clients and their support relationships, develop stabilization and safety plans.

Complete comprehensive documentation which supports the safety plan as indicated.

Possess an in-depth knowledge of community resources and ability to access resources to support and address client needs.

Follow up on referrals made regarding at-risk/high-risk persons to ensure stabilization and/or services obtained.

Under the supervision of a DCR, complete investigations for involuntary treatment, including completion of legal petition paperwork.

Conduct Involuntary Treatment Act investigations under the supervision of a supervisor or DCR RCW 71.05 and 71.34.

Maintain working relationships with the courts, attorneys, private psychiatrists, hospital staff, family members, police and sheriff's deputies, jail staff, clinical and administrative persons at inpatient psychiatric facilities throughout the state, staff of other agencies, advocate and consumer groups, and citizens.

Participate in peer review, supervision, in-center educational, and administrative meetings as directed.

Maintain client records and all other required documentation in a timely and confidential manner, in accordance with agency policies and practices.

Ability to communicate and engage effectively with individuals of varied backgrounds, trauma experiences, cultures, education levels, and socio-economic statuses.

Crisis Response Service is a 24/7 facility which may require staff to work on variable shifts. Crisis Response Services hires staff for a particular shift; however, due to operational needs (sick call, PTO, vacancies), this may result in required shift coverage.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFIED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

REQUIRED:

Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field from an accredited college or university, or RN licensed in the state of Washington.

At the time of hire, must have applied for one of the following DOH credentials:

Licensed Agency Affiliated Counselor (LAAC)

OR

Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA)

OR

Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker Associate (LICSWA)

OR

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA)

AND THEN

Credential must be active with DOH within 6 months of hire date unless currently have active License - LMHC, LMFT, or LICSW.

Meet the requirements of a Mental Health Professional as defined by WAC 246-341-0200.

Within 6 months of hire, must obtain Designated Crisis Responder designation in accordance with RCW 71.05.760.

PREFERRED:

Two years of experience serving individuals with behavioral health needs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Must have reliable transportation, insurance, and an active driver’s license and be willing to use a personal vehicle in the course of work.

Knowledge of Washington Administrative Codes and statutes pertaining to Crisis Intervention, the Involuntary Treatment Act.

Knowledge and skills in working with individuals with behavioral health disorders.

Ability to communicate and engage effectively with individuals of varied backgrounds, trauma experiences, cultures, education levels, and socio-economic statuses.

Demonstrated evidence of critical thinking, decision-making ability, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work autonomously.

PHYSICAL, SENSORY & ENVIRONMENTAL:

This position provides client services in community settings on a daily basis. Community settings include but are not limited to residences, group/congregate living settings, hospitals, shelters, the streets, or anywhere in the community at large. Some environments may not be ideal in terms of cleanliness or being habitable. Daily travel between locations is required.

The ability to drive a vehicle, traverse distances up to several city blocks and on various terrains, navigate stairs, and get in and out of vehicles frequently is required.

Daily use of a computer is required.

May be required to lift 10 - 20 pounds.

Blood-borne Pathogen Category I – Chance of blood-borne pathogen exposure.

PAY RANGE:

Crisis Response Specialist (Hourly/ Non-Exempt): $32.58 - $39.70

DCR II - (Salary/Exempt): $75,729.06 - $92,259.74 annually

*All pay is based on longevity at Frontier Behavioral Health; thus, the starting base pay would be:

Crisis Response Specialist (Hourly/ Non-Exempt): $32.58 per hour.

DCR II - (Salary/Exempt): $75,729.06 annually.

Added shift differential to the base pay above is:

Wednesday-Saturday - 9PM-7:30AM - 11.76%

Sunday-Wednesday - 9PM-7:30AM - 11.76%

Sunday-Wednesday - 7AM-5:30PM - 2.75%
