Role Description:

Join Magic School as the second design hire! As a Lead Product Designer, you'll shape our product experience with your strong UI/UX design skills and product management chops. You will take big ideas and make them into easily used, simple interfaces for teachers that integrate with their work & workflows. You will also continue to leverage our magical motif to improve our interface for our two main audiences - teachers/educators; and students - specifically, kids K-6 and 7-12.

Create wireframes/prototypes

Clear through-line of teacher mission; feels approachable for student & makes educators feel honored

Competencies/Skills:

To be successful in this role, you will be a:

Strong communicator/cross-dept collaborator

Work closely with PM, engineering team, CEO, education team, sales team

Curious learner & possess strong listening skills

Interpret people’s needs/desires without knowing necessarily what they’re looking at - be able to create visual product from imagination & ask the right questions

UX/UI jack of all trades

Create customer facing product & design - particularly for students and teachers

Transform abstract ideas into valuable designs and establish UX patterns across the product

Utilize design tools to establish design system, UI style guide, component system

Accessibility & usability focused

User research with distinct user personas/groups

End user product experience

Wireframing/prototyping

Ability to balance multiple projects/priorities at once

Desired Experience:

Experience creating a design system

Experience in visual design and using various design tools

Alignment in mission

Experience conducting user research with distinct user personas/groups

Nice to have: EdTech/teacher lens

Compensation Range: $130K - $180K
