Description

The Northwest School is a college-preparatory, co-educational independent school near the heart of downtown Seattle. We offer a rich and challenging program to about 400 students in grades 6 through 12, including international students, many of whom live in our campus dormitory.

Reports to: Safety and Security Manager

Purpose:

The Safety and Security Coordinator is a new position and will be responsible for maintaining campus safety and security after normal business hours. This is a part-time position, eligible for benefits and the work shift begins approximately 4:00pm and ends 10:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Dinner is provided.

Essential Functions:Provide campus wide safety and security services for school community members, school events (including on-campus sporting events), and the school's physical propertyProvide patrol presence to prevent, deter, and respond to campus safety incidents or concernsProvide first responder services for criminal, fire, medical and safety hazard incidents and work with emergency responder services to resolve incidentsProvide documented written reports for security and safety incidents on campusMonitor security and fire life safety systemsContact and coordinate Police, Fire and Medical emergency response onto the campus if neededProvide direct support to the campus community, departments and public visitors in the way of information, logistical set up, access to campus buildings, as well as miscellaneous support tasksPerform closing tasks for buildings at the end of each evening including locking doors, setting alarms, and ensuring buildings are properly closedServe as on-call for Facilities emergenciesAssist with supervision at Bobbi Morris as needed and facilitiesAssist as door monitoring for home games as needed.Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the school's mission, values, and philosophy, especially related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and environmental sustainability.High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and three years of related safety/security experience, or a combination of skills and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.Must pass a Washington State Patrol background checkMust be able to stand for extended periods and remain alert at all timesMust have knowledge and ability to use email systems, such as Microsoft OutlookMust possess a valid Washington State Driver License and a clean driving recordPreferred Qualifications:

Prior security experience in an educational settingAssociate degree in criminal justice or related fieldCurrent certification in CPR and Basic First Aid

Compensation:

Salary is highly competitive with top independent schools in the region and commensurate with education and experience. This is an hourly position with a pay range of $20.00 - $25.00 per hour.
