Commonwealth Staffing is looking to for an Accounting Supervisor for a boutique CPA firm in Virginia Beach, VA. This position is part of the Firm's Client Accounting and Advisory Services and participates in managing and developing interns, associates, staff and seniors within the CAAS Department by delegating and training them to be successful in their careers.

The Accounting Supervisor takes responsibility and will coordinate with the CAAS department staff member for client monthly, quarterly and annual accounting work being performed on time, appropriate scope of services and within budget. This position will seek business development opportunities through new or existing contacts. The Supervisor is building relationships across lines of business to ensure client service excellence through an integrated service approach. This position may require additional work hours to support the departments busy season.

Compensation and Benefits:

$60,000 - $70,000 in base compensation per year, commensurate with experienceBYOB: Build Your Own Bonus program based on all hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week. Oversee and perform as necessary tax compliance activities for individuals and businesses, including:Ability to perform and review: Bank Reconciliations, Sales Tax Returns,Reconcile balance sheet accounts and research financial discrepancies by analyzing detailed account information for financial statement preparation for the Monthly/Quarterly Write Up processCompile and review advanced workpapers utilizing Adobe and manage project workflows within paperless environment and answer questions for staff as neededCoordinate with other staff members to ensure accuracy of posted transactions through A/P, A/R, Fixed Assets and Payroll entriesSupervise a team of staff as assigned. Be a leader within CAAS Department by facilitating among CAAS department staff as well as coordination with other departmentsMaintain working knowledge of procedures and assist with updates as necessaryAbility to recognize client needs and facilitate meeting client expectationsAnticipate problems/issues and keep manager informed of engagement statusCommunicate with clients to request data, participate in client meetings as needed and contribute to a strong client relationship through positive interaction with client personnelResearch and consult on various projects, manage Ad-hoc projects as necessaryEnsure corporate accounting policies, procedures, and controls are followed when working with business partners and be able to provide support on special requestsResponsible for supervising processes or projects as assignedWilling to take action on items beyond formal job responsibilities, go over and aboveCross-sell opportunities among existing clientsParticipate in both Firm and professional continuing education opportunitiesAnswers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data for clients and other Firm staffWilling to participate and lead various department wide initiativesAssist with client meetings and participate in effective client communicationsPosition Qualifications:

Four year Accounting or Finance degree, or equivalent work experienceExperience preferred is 7+ years work experience in Accounting/Business related field,Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued. Prior experience with supervising other staff members desired.Acquired or working toward CPA or EA.Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting PrinciplesKnowledge of federal and state tax regulationsProficiency in UltraTax or other tax software, QuickBooks and other accounting softwareStrong computer skills with knowledge and skills in a wide variety of applications, Thomson Reuters software experience a plusGood interpersonal, oral and written communication skillsResearch orientated with problem-solving skillsSuperior attention to detail with strong organizational, analytical and planning skillsPositive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with team in various levelsFlexible in dealing with change with ability to manage multiple priorities and projects, and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
