The AV Installation Technician is responsible for completing technical installation and management of audiovisual systems, including equipment rack fabrication, site preparation, termination and calibration of audio and video equipment, implementation of control systems and video conference systems. Efficiently pull multiple wire types to correct location, according to design/drawings, without damaging cables, exceeding conduit fill or bend radius, while conforming to naming standards. Safely rig devices in space, adhering to published safety factors and recommended rigging structures. Accurately terminate cables with correct connector, selects and properly uses the correct connector and tools for each type. Build racks; loads gear/bring cable into a rack, dresses cabling neatly, adheres to signal separation, and paying mind to ergonomics and heat dissipation. Verify performance by testing all aspects of an AV system to ensure the final deliverable meets project expectations. Interpret project documentation (system flow diagrams, elevations, detail plan drawings and schedules) and ensure installation is completed as documented. Perform other duties as assigned. Required skills, knowledge, and abilities: High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Vocational or trade school courses in electrical, electronics, or communication systems preferred. 2+ years of experience performing installation, integration, and troubleshooting AV systems. Ability to understand basic networking, perform firmware update process, load control code to various manufacturer products, and capable of performing basic commissioning tasks. General knowledge and familiarity with building construction, the ability to read and understand construction documents, plans, and specifications is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Display proficiency with PC office tools, such as: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat. High degree of professionalism, diplomacy, integrity, and flexibility. Physical Demands: Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May be required to satisfy requirements imposed by specific projects, customers, or company needs.Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet. Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
