is recruiting a Full Time
Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA)
to join a growing faculty and staff in the care and management of adult patients with cardiac arrhythmias in the outpatient setting at our Arringdon location. The APP will work in collaboration with physicians and advanced practice providers, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations, and provide direct patient care services.
Primary hours will be Monday through Friday, day shift, with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Assess, diagnose and treat: Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record data in patient's record; write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings; obtain psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assume responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients. Prescribe medications within scope of practice.Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patientReview laboratory data and diagnostic testing, communicate and interpret results to patientsPerform medical decision-making- create a plan of care for the patientCollaborate with Heart Center Communications or Duke Raleigh Cardiology to triage urgent callsCollaborate with other NP/PAs to ensure clinic and telephone coveragePacemaker and defibrillator interrogation, evaluation and appropriate programming with appropriate documentation.Antiarrhythmic drug monitoringPre and post procedure in office education and careBill for services rendered.Develop and follow a collaborative practice agreement with assigned Supervising Physician.Job Eligibility Requirements
Education
Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.Physician Assistants: Work requires completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.Certification
ACLS prior to or within 3 months of employment.BLS required.License
Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure & NP approval to practice in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required.Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. BLS required.DEA license required.Experience
1+ years of Cardiology APP experience strongly preferredExperience caring for patients with patients with complex cardiac arrhythmias including management of pacemakers and defibrillators.
