Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Critical Care Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day/Night Rotating, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend and holiday; options for straight weekend if preferred Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years recent critical care experience required; prior critical care experience required License: Active SD or compact state RN license required Certifications: ACLS and BLS - both American Heart Association (AHA) required Must-Have: - Experience with Bipap and Cpap- Experience with oxygen titration- Experience with moderate sedation- Experience with hemodynamic monitoring, vasoactive medication titration, and management of ventilated patients- Willingness and ability to float between Critical Care and Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units as needed Job Description: - Perform nursing duties using Avea ventilators, Philips monitors, Hospira pumps, EPIC-based EMR, Artic Sun, and Datascope IABP.- Administer patient care using EKG, hemodynamic monitoring, and medication calculations.- Provide recovery care for procedures/surgeries and conscious sedation.- Handle medical-surgical patient care, Telemetry, and moderate sedation.- Provide care for patients with a wide range of diagnoses including pneumonia, COPD, CHF, COVID-19, pulmonary embolism, and more.- Manage mechanical and non-invasive ventilation, oxygen therapy, intravenous medications, chest tubes, tracheostomies, postoperative care, and cardiac monitoring.- Participate in a training and orientation program including general nursing orientation, computer-based training, competency test outs, EMR training, and department-specific training based on assessment needs and preceptor shifts.- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio primarily 1:2 in ICU settings, with variations based on acuity and patient transfer status, and 1:3 in IMC settings. Experienced RNs will gain opportunities for fundamental critical care experience in mechanical ventilation and a foundation focused on safe patient outcomes within a supportive family culture environment.
