About this Role

The Staff Pathologist provides support to U.S Urology Partners in delivering anatomical and clinical diagnostic information to physicians and mid-level providers. Position requires collaboration with Laboratory Director.

What You'll Be Doing

Provide clinical pathology and anatomic pathology services to AMP patients.

Retain expertise in pathological interpretations of biopsied materials.

Gross description of surgical specimens, reporting of findings and the approval of pathology reports.

Cytology related duties of reading and reporting non-gynecological cases.

Retain expertise in pathologic interpretation of cytological material.

Provide oversight of all histology and cytology processes; including staining protocols and any policies or procedures to ensure patient safety and enhance patient care, from specimen handling through pathological interpretation.

Maintain all required protocols per AMP policies.

Maintain all protocols as per State, federal and accreditation requirements including but not limited to CLIA, NYS, CAP, etc.

Maintains working knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA compliance standards and applies these policies and procedures to daily responsibilities.

Maintain correlation QA studies between pathology interpretations performed by AMP pathologist and follow-up surgical diagnosis, as well as consultative opinions from outside institutions as internal quality assurance documentation.

Determine the adequacy of specimens sent for genetic/molecular studies.

What We Expect from You

Must have graduated from an accredited medical school and completed an approved residency in anatomic and clinical pathology.

Must be board certified in AP and/or CP by the American Board of Pathology as appropriate for job assignment.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have thorough knowledge in computer information systems.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
