Material Handler

Job Description

The Material Handler at Sytech is responsible for overseeing all distribution of products; this includes maintaining production and distribution of product by pulling orders from inventory this would be mainly the metal inventory, back up on all other inventory, receiving and shipping; delivering production materials and supplies; backs up the staging of finished product, back up delivery driver when needed, and all other duties as assigned. This is a unique position, and we require this individual to be flexible and willing to keep the internal and external customers in mind; while maintaining Quality of Workmanship, Safety, Accountability, and Teamwork, which is vital to our mission.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory. This applies mainly to the metal inventory, backs up other product inventory. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Receiving and verifying count/metal type and other product for inventory. Unloading material from delivery trucks. Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders. Maintains in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies. Document's materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units. Manage inventory of raw material. Manage rem rack of raw material. Maintains work yard pallets and dunnage. Facilitating material recycling pickups/deliveries. Understands and follows SOP and Department Rules. Understand Job Traveler, routing, and split orders. Logging in and out of jobs Receives credit-return material and supplies from production by verifying materials and supplies code and lot number and quantity, placing materials in stock. Back up for shipping area in preparing finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product. Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections, making operator repairs. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Qualifications

Minimum of at least 2 years in Metal or Fabrication handling or a similar position Organization, Scheduling, Analyzing Information, detail oriented. Dealing with Complexity, Deadline-Oriented, Time Management, Process Improvement, Safety Management, Inventory Control Self-motivated, professional, dependable, flexible, able to meet goals. Ability to take direction, working as a part of a team as well as independently. Self -managed; Team player. Basic math skills and be able to keep accurate count of parts processed. Data Entry Skills, how to operate computers and software programs. Excellent Written and oral communication skills, Interpersonal skills In-depth knowledge of machines and how to operate them, i.e., forklifts, cranes, booms, etc. DOT requirements Knowledge of Metals required. Lifting- minimum of 50lbs. Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands

Able to maintain a quick and steady pace working efficiently throughout the shift. Be adaptable to a changing work environment. Bend, stoop, lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds; stand and walk continuously throughout an 8-hour shift; work in dusty and dirty conditions; clean and maintain a safe working environment. The employee is frequently required to reach above shoulders, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance. Environmental Exposure

•Confined spaces, high noise levels, moving objects such as forklifts and carts.

•Exposure to hot temperature when working near ovens or in areas of the building that cannot be temperature controlled (especially during summer months)
