Position Summary

Do you have a passion for the seed industry and want to gain a deeper understanding into inbred and hybrid corn development? Your main responsibilities will be to work with the quantitative genetics and breeding teams to improve analysis pipelines and decision pathways.As a remote member of the Biostatistics team, you will complete an experiential learning project throughout the course of your time with AgReliant Genetics that will make a long term and positive impact on the research division!

What to Expect

In this 12 week developmental internship, you will have a chance to assist with breeding data analysis. You will be provided job shadowing opportunities in the areas of line breeding, precommercial research, and commercial sales so you can explore all aspects of the seed business. Throughout your internship, you'll receive regular feedback, guidance and coaching to help you develop the skills you need to succeed.

This intern may have the opportunity to have a hybrid work schedule at our Ames, IA or Lebanon, IN location.

What YOU will do:Support the Biostatistics team in improving analysis pipelines in R.Assists the Corn Breeding team and other stakeholders with the analysis of data, preparation of data reports, and decision-making processes.Develop and complete an experiential learning project that combines your interests with impactful needs in AgReliant Research.Build professional relationships by being engaged during all assigned tasks, as well as tour and job shadowing opportunities.Ensure safety rules are followed at all times.Promote a positive image of the company and the research department.Other duties as assignedWho YOU are :

Pursuing a Master's degree or PhD in plant breeding or related area of studyExperience in data analysis and ability to code in RInterest in corn research is a must!Good communication skills, both verbal and writtenHighly self-motivatedAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamExcellent planning and organization skillsAbility to plan and manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlinesStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsAbility to maintain confidential informationWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred) and common PC based softwareValid driver's license and meet MVR guidelines
