Recruiting Solutions is seeking a Tooling Technician for a privately held family-owned company in the Cowpens, SC area. This is a direct-hire position with competitive pay and benefits. This is an 8-hour day shift position with a Monday-Friday schedule.The ideal candidate must have at least 3- years of experience with plastic injection molding. The Tooling Technician will be responsible for performing routine maintenance on plastic injection molds, both in the press and on the bench under the direct supervision of the Tooling Supervisor. This will include disassembling, cleaning, organizing, and reassembling complex tooling. Key Responsibilities of the Tooling Technician: General Duties: Ensure all work is carried out safely and without injury. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times (no jewelry, cell phones, nicotine in any form, etc.). Report all food safety issues to the appropriate manager or supervisor. Perform housekeeping duties throughout the shift. Lift up to 35 pounds unassisted and stand/walk for the duration of the shift. Develop, implement, and support Continuous Improvement Programs. Initiate corrective actions for non-conformances. Identify Opportunities for Improvement and enter them into the See It, Sort It, Report It system. Wear appropriate PPE as required. Work unscheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed. Perform duties as assigned by the Tooling Supervisor. Tooling Functions: Perform mold-related services according to schedule (dates due and duration of downtime). Set and pull molds in and out of injection machines. Provide support to the maintenance and mold shop crew as required. Maintain mold-related records and history in designated network folders and appropriate systems. Execute mold maintenance activities to achieve department KPIs. Provide timely responses to mold-related issues on the production floor. Maintain injection molds to ensure product quality meets or exceeds production standards. Clean up water, grease, and oil after mold installations. Initiate actions for part containment repairs. Maintain injection molds, including troubleshooting, inspection, repairs, cavitation, and PMs. Ensure safe storage and accurate inventory of spare mold-related tooling. Manage cleaning supplies associated with mold maintenance, including solutions in the FISA sonic cleaner. Skills and Competencies of the Tooling Technician: Competency in reading blueprints, pneumatics, hydraulics, machine shop equipment, metal fabrication, mechanical principles, and basic math. Geometry and trigonometry skills are a plus. Basic rigging skills to manage assembled molds and mold plates. Basic welding skills are a plus. Working knowledge of injection molding machines. Good communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written. Basic computer skills. Required Experience of the Tooling Technician: 3-5 years' experience in mold troubleshooting and repair, hot runner system repair, close tolerance components, and injection molding process and troubleshooting preferred. Ability to use machine shop equipment such as lathes, mills, surface grinders, measurement equipment, and basic functions of an injection molding machine. Working knowledge of a computerized maintenance management system. Familiarity with ISO or similar quality systems and SQF or similar food safety systems is preferred. Education Requirements of the Tooling Technician: Technical college diploma in a related field or an Industrial License is preferred.
