The

Finance & Accounting

team creates the framework for all financial activity for USC Auxiliary Services. Finance & Accounting maintains the fiscal integrity of all finances and works closely with the business units to insure proper controls, policies and procedures are in place to protect the assets of the University. We are a team of analytical thinkers, problem solvers and spirited Trojans. With a unit as large as Auxiliary Services, no task is too big, or too small, for our team!

We are seeking a

Accounting/Financial Supervisor to join our rapidly growing team.

The Opportunity:

A number and analytics guru, the Accounting Supervisor will lead our team to continued excellence in gathering and examining the financial reports of

USC Hospitality.

You will use your experience to straighten out any problems you recognize in our systems and to help us develop innovative ways to visualize, manage, and monitor our budgets. As our Accounting/Financial Supervisor for USC Hospitality, you will be leading month end close and ensuring that financials are reported in an accurate and timely manner. Our team is driven to provide exceptional customer service and we work hard to make sure our work exceeds our customers' expectations.

The Accountabilities:

Supervise the work of accounting assistants and/or technicians. Communicate Auxiliary Services' priorities. Assign and schedule work based on assessment of work volume and deadlines. Authorize overtime and/or use of temporary staff. Monitor performance and provide feedback. Counsel or discipline as needed.Monitor and review work for accuracy and timeliness. Identify and correct errors. Assist in problem resolution and make decisions within established authority level. Ensure adherence to internal operating policies and procedures and external guidelines and regulations.Train staff in operating procedures. Ensure procedures and policies are documented and updated as necessary. Communicate changes to staff.Monitor internal financial operations. Evaluate procedures and controls for adequacy. Recommend changes or modifications.Collect and format data for special projects and management studies. Prepare various financial reports, as required.Plan, schedule, and coordinate internal reviews and audits. Implement corrective actions directed by manager.Advise on Auxiliary Service specific policies and procedures. Provide interpretation for non-routine or complex situations.Serve as a resource for other University offices, staff, and any external contacts requesting information exchange and/or assistance.Oversee day-to-day accounting transactions (A/R, A/P, inventory) and lead month end close processes.Ensure compliance with USC's internal accounting policies, GAAP and any applicable tax requirements.Report month end results along with variance commentary against prior year/budget and partner with operations to identify opportunities to increase revenue/reduce costs.Produces regular and ad-hoc financial and operating reports. Evaluates and analyzes reports and data (. Develops conclusions and recommendations and communicates orally or in writing to management.Drive productivity and efficiency across Hospitality operations and finance (e.g. automating manual processes).Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Education: Associate's Degree.Experience: 2 years.Expertise:Senior or lead bookkeeping/accounting experience with directly related college study.Thorough knowledge of established accounting principles, methods, practices, and terminology used in financial/accounting and statistical recordkeeping work.Ability to train, evaluate, and supervise the work of employees.Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and effective communications skills.

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
