The Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant provides support to the Head Start program team in identifying and securing the needed support for families of children experiencing mental health challenges.Provides expertise to the program through observations, assessments, and consultative support.Provides intervention for children and families that will promote social and emotional development using evidenced based models.Adhere to an evidenced-based social work model, principles, and practices.Provide on-site staff consultation.Meet with Head Start staff members to build understanding and capacity to identify and support children with behavioral and mental health concerns.Assist Early Learning team to develop appropriate behavioral strategies to support children with challenging behaviors in the classroom. Conduct classroom, center-based, and Home-based (for Home-based children only) child observations to assess individual needs of children as well as the overall classroom environment, assess interpersonal interactions and determine if additional Mental Health support/resources are needed to meet child's needs.Provide parents with education regarding mental health concerns and emotional wellness and support them in needed mental health interventions.Document all screenings, assessments, and consultations in appropriate database.Prepare and maintain timely documentation, reports, and records in accordance with agency, state accreditation, and other requirements.Full-time with benefits

Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related degree with two years post-masters experience with a clinical license (LCSW, LPCMH or LMFT), preferred. Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or related degree with a clinical license (LCSW, LPCMH, LMFT) within two years of hire date, required.Experience with child behavioral and mental health concerns, preferred.Knowledge and understanding of infant and toddler mental health, with preference given to individuals with experience working in collaboration with early education teams to provide mental health support.Bilingual in Spanish and/or Creole, preferredAbility to respond appropriately to the cultural differences present among the agency's service population.Must have valid driver's license, which meets the requirements of the agency's insurance carrier and reliable transportation.
