Haul Truck Driver

ABOUT THE ROLE:
Holcim Us, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Haul Truck Driver to support operations at the Accokeek Quarry in Accokeek, MD. This position will be responsible for operating heavy haul trucks to transport materials over short distances throughout the plant.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:Hauls materials, supplies, and equipment between distant points with opertaing vehicle in safe manner.Loads and unloads or supervises the loading and unloading of assigned equipment, limiting the load to a safe capacityMaintain a truck log, operating a radio or other communication equipment, and prepare paperwork.Check oil and water, performing safety evaluations, and following directions to haul and dump loads accordinglySafety Responsibilities - Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies to assume that environmental, health and safety are the first priority of the business. Actively support key safety initiatives at the facility and assist the department as needed to improve EHS performance and results.Communicates with load and unload areas, hauls materials safely to designated areas and maintains safe speed and observes all plant traffic controls.Performs walk-around pre-trip safety inspections. Identifies any safety problems or concerns and report any unsafe conditions to Supervisor including near misses and any other areas where safety can be improved.Performs maintenance activities to ensure haul truck is maintained to the required standard and assist with other plant maintenance activities as required including site housekeeping or clean up activities.WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Education: High school diploma or equivalentRequired Work Experience: Prior experience operating haulage trucks or heavy equipmentExcellent driving record5+ years Heavy Equipment operation expereinceKnowledge of heavy equipment safety protocol, machinery maintenance, and weighing procedures are helpful skills in this roleCurrent/Vaild DOT cardKnowledge of the applicable occupational hazards and safety precautionsExcellent oral communication skills with close attention to detailRequired Computer and Software Skills: Basic computer skillsA background in construction is also beneficial in dump truck operator jobs (Preferrable)Ability to lift 50lbsReliable transportationLicenses Required: N/AStrong safety orientationMust be able to work second shift hours as directed by supervisor, typical start time between 1pm-11:00pmAbility to work Monday through Friday, and occasional SaturdaysAdditional Requirements:
