The Senior Broadcast Systems Engineer works to maintain transmitter and broadcast signal chain technology in support of the Engineering Manager, prioritizes FCC requirements and ensure quality television is delivered in order to reach people and build a strong organization while demonstrating Cascade PBS values of integrity, community, innovation and diversity.

Salary range:

$79,500 - $90,000

Operate, test, and repair KCTS and KYVE transmission systems and maintain associated hardwareEnsure interconnect and supporting systems, including encoding, PSIP, datacasting, EAS monitoring, and other associated systems are working properlyProvide on-going proof of performance of on-air video and audio qualityImplement preventative maintenance schedule for KCTS & KYVE transmission pathsManage operational enhancement projectsAssist Engineering Manager to ensure inspections are conducted, broadcast processes are clear and efficient, and staffing plans are up to dateAssist the Engineering Manager with KCTS-TV & KYVE systems updates, FCC reporting, and broadcast process designServes as the Engineering Manager's back-up in case of their absence as requested.Assist in the implementation of the Broadcast Engineering Budget planEnsure the KCTS 9 transmission site is maintained, clean and safeMaintain and monitor performance of generator and UPS to ensure reliable backup power sourcesServe as a technical contact for KYVE - travel to Yakima when necessarySupport the Acting Chief Operator by working with staff to maintain operating logs - guaranteeing FCC compliance for KCTS and KYVEEnsure that applicable FCC and FAA rules and regulations are followed at each tower siteCommunicate directly and effectively within the Engineering and IT departmentsCollaborate with Cascaded PBS team members to foster a positive and productive culture and contribute toward the overall growth of the Cascade PBSOther duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without noticeREQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

Experience with IP-based broadcast technologies requiredFamiliarity with FCC/FAA regulations and broadcast industry standards requiredExceptional Communication skillsPrevious experience in a supervisory or management role, even outside of broadcasting preferredAdvanced knowledge and ability to operate and maintain audio, video, broadcast electronics and computer systems requiredActive (or ability to attain an) FCC general operator's license or SBE certification as a Television broadcast engineer preferredWorking knowledge of electrical engineering and mechanical fabrication techniques preferredEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

AA degree from an accredited technical school or equivalent experience required5 years' experience FM radio or VHF, UHF television and microwave transmitter maintenance experience preferred.2 years of supervision or leadership experience (in any role) preferredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have reliable means of transportation to meet requirements of the jobAbility to regularly type on a keyboardAbility to lift, carry, push, and pull 30 pounds requiredAbility to use a variety of hand tools, power tools and various machines.Ability to climb, squat, bend and twist as requiredAbility to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays
