This Clinical Laboratory Supervisor II will be responsible for:
  • Supervising the technical and operational day-to-day activities of the laboratory section assigned.
  • Supervising staff of an individual lab section ensuring all work performed in the section is accurate and completed within established or agreed upon turn-around times and in accordance with all policies and procedures.
  • Drafting procedures/protocols as directed.
  • Working with directors and managers establishes and implements technical and departmental procedures.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives and serves as department representative to clinical programs as assigned by manager.
  • Orienting new employees and assuring completion of all training, competency assessments, and mandatory education.
  • Under guidance of the medical director and laboratory manager, monitoring the testing program of the laboratory to ensure the highest quality of testing and the highest level of customer service.
  • Leading individuals in work groups to continuously improve performance by creating an environment that assures application of quality principles and techniques to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Interviewing and recommending the selection of suitable candidates for employment.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, laws, and requirements of requisite agencies by employing appropriate systems/processes.
  • Consistently administers the established criteria and processes for evaluation, promotion, and termination of all staff within designated area of responsibility.
  • Supervising the section participation in studies, research, publications, and public presentations.
  • May coordinate with area schools and universities for clinical rotations/training of students.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Lab Science
  • 5 years clinical laboratory experience with 1 year in supervisory/leadership role.

Certification/Registration:

  • Current registration/certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology ASCP in one of the following:
  • Certified Medical Technologist from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP),OR Technologist registered/certified in one of the following:
  • Certified Technician in Hematology,
  • Certified Technician in Chemistry,
  • Certified Microbiology,
  • Certified Technician in Immunology, OR Certified Tech in one of the following:
  • Blood Banking from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP),
  • Registered Microbiology from the American Association of Microbiology (AAM)

Shift/Hours:

  • Monday - Friday: Day Shift - (7:00am - 3:30pm). Weekends and holidays as needed
