Pharmacy Technician II

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician II works under the supervision of a Pharmacist, assisting with the preparation, storage, distribution, and dispensing of prescriptions. This role involves rotation through IV admixture, unit dose service, OR Pharmacy Services, and Outpatient Pharmacy Services. Responsibilities include medication order fulfillment, inventory management, data entry, and record keeping.

Essential Functions

• Fulfill medication orders for oral, injectable, topical, and intravenous medications
• Assist in the manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products
• Distribute floor stock items and prepared medications to patient care areas
• Perform data entry for medication charges, credits, and returns
• Stock and inventory shelves, adhering to clean room guidelines for IV admixtures
• Fill prescriptions, process orders, and interact with customers at the Outpatient Pharmacy
• Update and transmit daily drug orders, monitor and address special orders and shortages
• Assist with cash drawer reconciliation, inventory management, and training of new staff

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 6 months of technician experience, ASHP accredited technician training program completion, or experience with sterile compounding
• Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Michigan upon hire

Physical Demands

• Includes occasional sitting, frequent standing and walking, and occasional lifting and bending
