Principal Scientist – Semiconductor Materials and Deposition

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and innovative R&D Semiconductor Chemical Engineer to lead the development of advanced chemical solutions for semiconductor manufacturing processes. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing chemical formulations and processes for deposition, etching, and cleaning technologies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineering, process development, and product management, to ensure the seamless integration of chemical solutions into semiconductor equipment.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in materials science, thin films, and chemical processes such as Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). Hands-on experience with semiconductor equipment from leading companies such as LAM, AMAT, ASM, or TEL is essential. This role is crucial to driving innovation in semiconductor fabrication, particularly for advanced nodes and new materials, ensuring high-quality, scalable solutions for high-volume production.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and synthesize innovative chemical precursors tailored for specific semiconductor and industrial applications.
Optimize molecular structures to improve performance, scalability, and applicability in deposition processes like Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD).
Investigate and manipulate chemical interactions at material surfaces to enhance
selective deposition . This includes working with
Self-Assembled Monolayers (SAMs)
and surface inhibitors to achieve desired deposition patterns and selectivity.
Improve understanding of surface dynamics to support innovations in material deposition.
Construct and screen large
chemical libraries
to identify new potential precursors and reactants.
Evaluate these compounds based on their physical and chemical properties for suitability in
deposition processes
like ALD and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD).
Develop and fine-tune inhibitors and activators to precisely control deposition reactions.
Ensure deposition processes meet specific application needs by optimizing these chemical agents.
Stay current with cutting-edge research and advancements in
ALD, selective deposition, SAM technologies , and screening methods.
Implement the latest findings from academic journals and patents to improve internal processes and product development.
Qualifications
PhD or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in chemistry or materials development for semiconductor manufacturing, with a strong focus on thin films, deposition, or etching processes.
Hands-on experience with semiconductor equipment
from leading companies such as LAM, Applied Materials (AMAT), ASM, or Tokyo Electron (TEL) is
required .

Pay: $200,000.00 - $280,000.00 per year
