About the Opportunity

ASC’s Training Services team deliver a range of courses to train the next generation of submarine crew at the Royal Australian Navy’s world-class training facility at HMAS Stirling, Garden Island. This rewarding role is an opportunity to develop and share your knowledge in combat system and communications equipment maintenance. You will also contribute to training development, technology updates and other related activities.

Direct submarine experience is beneficial however applicants with transferrable skills and experience across Defence, shipbuilding and associated industry will be considered.

You will teach classroom, practical and simulator classes using a range of specialist equipment before assessing students’ performance. You will also contribute to training development and the introduction of new capability onto the submarine. This is an opportunity for you to share your electrical system technical expertise and use the latest learning technologies to meet our client’s requirements for high quality training. ASC is proud of our 30-year history partnering with Navy and our submarine enterprise partners.

Responsibilities

Training delivery in classroom, practical, and simulated environments

Competency assessment of students

Assist with training development and instructional design

Update and maintain own knowledge and skills currency

Provide input into technical configuration changes and impact assessments

About you

Knowledge of surface ship or submarine combat system and communication equipment maintenance i.e. Sonar, Radar, Communication Systems or similar.

Certificate III Electronics and Communications or higher

Certificate IV Training and Assessment (or willing to study within 12 months of start)

Role model with confident presentation and communication skills

A strong understanding of security and data handling requirements

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
