Purpose:The University of Missouri - Columbia is expanding and adding to its research faculty. The Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a Clinical Addiction Psychiatrist Researcher.

The primary purpose of this position is to identify an Addiction Psychiatrist/Physician Scientist with expertise in Psychopharmacology or Non-invasive neural stimulation and a program of research intent on developing research grounded in conducting Phase IIB or Phase III randomized clinical trials. The overarching goals of this team science approach are to understand the neuropathophysiology mediating drug abuse and contribute to a treatment development pipeline. Primary objectives include supporting ongoing clinical trial programs and developing new programs to maintain a rich early discovery pipeline.

Essential Job Responsibilities:50% Clinical, 50% Funded Research

Creates new research programs related to treatments in psychopharmacology or non-invasive neural stimulation in conducting Phase IIB or Phase III randomized clinical trials.Develops and executes objectives through independent research, team projects, or managing outsourced research activities to maximize efficiency.Independently designs and executes studies, interprets data, and makes recommendations on next steps.Prepares and communicates presentations of scientific strategy related to programs, data, and interpretation to audiences at different levels of knowledge and expertise.Maintains expert knowledge of state-of-the-art principles/theories related to neuroscience.Performs other duties as assigned or special projects as needed.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:A MD in neuroscience or a related discipline.

Candidates will be Evaluated on:

0-3+ years of relevant post-graduate experience, K or R awarded researcher.Publication record demonstrating expertise in addiction neuroscience.Hands-on experience with successful initiation and completion of projects related to cellular, molecular, or systems neuroscience.
