About the Job

This position is for an intern to assist researchers in the University of Minnesota computational hypersonics research group in developing a process for accomplishing two distinct tasks - Profiling and optimization of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software and offloading CFD code to a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). The intern will work closely with researchers and will be expected to give periodic one-on-one progress updates and an end of the summer presentation to the research lab.Job Duties

40% Profiling and optimization of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software40% Offloading CFD code to a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)20% Creating tutorial, examples, and documentation to aid current and future researchers with accomplishing these two tasks. Provide periodic one-on-one progress updates and an end of the summer presentation to the research lab.Qualifications

Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentExperience in computer programming with at least one of the following languages: C, C++, Fortran, PythonExperience with git, github, and/or gitlabFamiliarity with scientific computingAbility to work independentlySelf-motivated and creativeSkilled at writing and documenting work progressPreferred QualificationsExperience with C/C++Familiarity with CFDFamiliarity with GPU programmingExperience with code profiling and optimizationHow To Apply
