The EHS Specialist demonstrates core skills, which include understanding the company safety policies in adherence to the principal values VMVO (Vision, Mission, Values, and Objectives). The EHS Specialist is a key resource to the facility with a focus on employee safety. This person reports directly to the EHS Manager and has the primary responsibility of supporting all environmental, health, and safety improvement efforts at the CertainTeed, Wilmington, CA facility. These duties and responsibilities listed below are not intended to be inclusive and may change depending on unforeseen circumstances or assigned by supervision for the success of the operation.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Complete daily EHS assignments that are assigned by the EHS Manager.Conduct High Risk Assessment audits with Hourly & Salary personnel.Engage in employee accidents and injuries, support Managers and Supervisors with Accident investigation reports. Respond to plant when needed to take employees to the Clinic or ER for treatment.Conduct Gemba Walks with Hourly, Salary personnel.Monitor employees, contractors, and visitors to ensure compliance with all site safety policies.Identify safety hazards and provide interventions to eliminate or reduce hazards.Audit job safety analysis, risk assessments, and work permits on a routine basis.Support/Conduct safety meeting presentations with the Production, Maintenance, Warehouse crews, and Salary personnel.Participate and report all safety engagement activity during the Standard Work meetings held with the Site Leadership Team.Track TF1 - TF5 events. Assist the EHS Manager in determining the mitigation plan for any action items that develop from the TF Events.Use internal tracking systems to report leading and lagging safety indicators.Assist with tracking of EHS metrics and data entry into 4.orms.Perform regularly scheduled safety equipment inspections.On occasion be able to assist with environmental tasks as needed.Work with operational leaders to enforce safety standards and policies.Be an active member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT).Work with the EHS Manager to help lead and direct the activities of the Safety Committee.Track and follow up on EHS corrective actions in 4.orms. Provide follow-up communications to employees who are involved or reported the EHS concern prompting the corrective actions.Work as the point-of-contact for all contractors/visitors subject to working under the site work permits.Conduct Safety New Hire Orientation and other EHS training as needed throughout the year.Required Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE

Preferred (but not required) education: bachelor’s degree in EHS or related field.Preferred experience: 2 years’ experience within the general industry health & safety field.Have a basic knowledge of OSHA standards and regulatory compliance requirements or be willing to take OSHA standards training (OSHA 30) immediately after starting in the position.Must have a basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies.Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to all levels of the organization.Must have adequate skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.Must have the ability to recognize and prioritize various tasks/projects at the same time.Must obtain the ability to build teams and manage change.Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is $68,700 to $106,300 per year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 9% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures.
