Academic Acute Care SurgeonMcGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), Assistant or Associate Professor position in the Division of Acute Care Surgery in the Department of Surgery. The division includes trauma, surgical critical care, emergency general surgery, and burn surgery services at multiple locations including the Red Duke Trauma Institute and the John S. Dunn Burn Center at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. This Level 1 trauma center evaluates over 11,000 injured patients annually. Research in the division is supported by 24/7 personnel coverage for research-related activities through the Center for Translational Injury Research (CeTIR). The faculty mentor and educate trainees at all levels, including fellows in an ACGME-accredited Surgical Critical Care Fellowship and a AAST-accredited Acute Care Surgery Fellowship. The candidate will join a talented team of physicians that strive for excellence in education, research and clinical practice.The selected candidate for the position must be board certified or board eligible in general surgery and surgical critical care and eligible for a Texas Medical License. Ideally, the candidate will have completed a two-year acute care surgery fellowship or have been in clinical practice for several years. The qualified applicant must demonstrate a commitment to excellence, discovery and service; have the potential to be outstanding in their field of expertise; and share an interest in fulfilling the common goals of McGovern Medical School at UTHealth.
