Adjunct Instructor - Entering the Cannabis Industry

OLIVE-HARVEY COLLEGEOlive-Harvey College is looking for an adjunct instructor to teach “Entering the Cannabis Industry.” This course offers training in professional skills required in the cannabis industry, based on the provisions stipulated by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). Instruction will cover skills such as industry software, emotional intelligence, resume development, cover letter writing, job searching, networking, interviewing, and portfolio development. This class serves as a foundation course for the Urban Agriculture Department’s Basic Certificate in Applied Cannabis Studies and an elective in the AAS degree in Applied Cannabis Studies.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction while facilitating student learning.Revise and continually update curriculum and instructional materials to reflect an evolving industry.Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, and ensure a safe instructional environment.Develop and deliver customized training for various clients as needed, and maintain involvement with business, industry, and community through advisory committees and professional associations.Demonstrate excellence in teaching, integrate new technologies into the learning process, and inspire students to succeed.Maintain office hours for advising, mentoring, and coaching students.Become familiar with City Colleges of Chicago policies and standards.Post syllabi and grades on Brightspace.QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of 1 year experience working in the cannabis industry.Familiarity with and understanding of Illinois cannabis laws and regulations.Commitment to maintaining professional standards in an academic environment.Preferred 2 years of teaching experience in the academic realm.Awareness of dispensary operations and cultivation processing.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Experience and knowledge of emotional intelligence development and resume development.APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:A letter of interest.Resume or curriculum vitae.A statement of your teaching philosophy.A legible copy of your college transcripts (Unofficial transcripts initially accepted; official transcripts must be provided at the time of the interview).Two letters of recommendation.We are an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
