Duties include two orchestra classes (Intermediate and Proficient/Advanced levels), fine arts information, and an advocacy coordinator period to market and advocate for our K-12 Arts Program in the community.Candidates must be eligible for a music education teaching license in North Carolina and be a string primary major (violin, viola, cello, or bass) with the pedagogical knowledge to teach repertoire from grades 2-6. The orchestra program in Hickory begins in grade six with daily instruction. The program has been a staple of the arts program since 1962. There is tremendous potential for growth professionally in this position.Hickory City Schools is a city system within Catawba County, NC. There is a strong arts community in Hickory. Cultural amenities include the Western Piedmont Symphony, The Hickory Museum of Art, several music schools both traditional and Suzuki focused, as well as Lenoir-Rhyne University and the Hickory campus of Appalachian State University. Two community colleges are located within 20 minutes of downtown Hickory.
