tip sheet .The University of Miami Health System, "UHealth", Department of Pediatrics has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Research Associate 2, SOM to work in Miami.The Research Associate 2, SOM contributes to the University’s research activities under the supervision of senior staff. Moreover, the incumbent understands, interprets, and complies with research policies and protocols.Core Responsibilities:

Performs specialized and complex experiments/studies.Participates in the publication of significant research results.Advances expertise through education, training, and research.Writes extramural grants/proposals to gain support when appropriate.Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens and tissue cultures.Weighs and anesthetizes laboratory animals for experiments.Operates sensitive and highly complex laboratory equipment.Performs calculations to complete research test results.Performs photography and dark room processing.Participates in training sessions and workshops.Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.Department Specific Functions:

Oversees projects within the laboratory.Assumes significant responsibility for day-to-day operation of lab activities.Monitors results, responds to unusual outcomes; develops and implements modifications.Collects, enters, analyzes and interprets data.Possesses advanced knowledge of lab practices and directs and teaches others in lab practices.Provides leadership of lab operations and staff.Possesses extensive knowledge in specialized field of study.Contributes significantly to grant proposals.Authors and co-authors publications.Presents at National Meetings.Requires ability to work independently, including experience providing independent oversight of research project(s).Work with a variety of people at all levels both within and outside of the institution.This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.CORE QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or other relevant science.Masters in biology, chemistry, or other relevant science preferred.Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. 4 years of research laboratory experience preferred.Demonstrated abilities in experimental procedures, statistical analysis techniques, development of experiments, and troubleshooting in laboratory settings preferred.Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.Ability to learn and use complex laboratory equipment.Meticulous attention to detail.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Good teamworking skills.Analytical skills.Time management.Ability to keep detailed records.Ability to prepare and process laboratory samples using established protocols.Ability to monitor and/or maintain quality control standards.Ability to perform a range of clinical laboratory tests and chemical analysis on biological samples.The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.The University of Miami is an Equal Opportunity Employer - Females/Minorities/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities are encouraged to apply.
