Health and Safety Manager

The Health and Safety Manager plays a pivotal role in driving this commitment forward. This role involves spearheading BBS initiatives, responding swiftly to incidents and near misses, and overseeing our “Good Catch” program to proactively prevent incidents. As the knowledge expert in health and safety, the manager provides essential guidance and support to operations personnel, ensuring they perform their tasks safely and in compliance with regulations, thereby protecting our most valuable asset —our employees.Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Health and Safety Manager will develop and implement health and safety plans in line with legal guidelines and enforce policies that promote a culture of safety. Collaborating with supervisors, they will foster a "Safety First" mindset by encouraging best practices, providing training, leading health and safety meetings, and conducting root cause analyses to address and correct safety issues.Day-to-Day Responsibilities:Program Development and Implementation:

Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with legal requirements and company standards.Lead the annual safety campaign, “Ambition Zero – Together!”, with the goal of achieving zero lost time incidents (LTI).Behavioral-Based Safety (BBS):

Drive BBS initiatives to build and sustain a safety-first culture across all levels of the organization.Provide training and support to employees and supervisors on BBS principles and best practices.Incident Management and Reporting:

Oversee the "Good Catch" program to encourage proactive identification and reporting of potential hazards.Investigate incidents, near misses, and other safety concerns to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.Maintain records and reports related to workplace injuries, incidents, and safety inspections.Manage the Worker’s Compensation program and internal Fire Protection program.Training and Education:

Develop and conduct health and safety training programs for all employees, ensuring they understand and comply with safety regulations.Lead regular health and safety meetings and toolbox talks to reinforce safety awareness and best practices.Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations and company policies.Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.Risk Assessment and Hazard Control:

Perform risk assessments and develop strategies to minimize risks and prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational diseases.Collaborate with operations personnel to implement safety measures and controls to mitigate identified risks.Continuous Improvement:

Analyze safety data and trends to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance overall safety performance.Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes to continuously improve the health and safety program.Skills and Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification is strongly preferred.In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).Experience with Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) programs and safety management systems.Ability to influence and drive a culture of safety across the organization.Proactive and results-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement.Strong leadership, communication, and training skills.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization.Act as a ROCKWOOL ambassador demonstrating our core values of Ambition, Integrity, Responsibility and Efficiency.Physical Demands:
