Indiana University Bloomington, Bloomington, Indiana, United States, 47401

Multiple, Tenured/Tenure-Track Faculty Positions in Synthetic Biology

at Indiana University Bloomington

As part of a major, multi-year initiative to expand research activities in Synthetic Biology across the IU Bloomington campus, the

College of Arts and Sciences

and the

Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering

invite applications for multiple tenure/tenure-track positions at all ranks to begin in the Fall of 2025. Appointments will be in one or more departments, including

Chemistry ,

Biology ,

Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry , or

Intelligent System Engineering . These exciting new positions are associated with the university’s

multimillion-dollar investment

in biosciences, expanding life sciences research on the Bloomington campus.

We are particularly interested in researchers working in areas of synthetic biology who can synergize with existing research strengths in the departments noted above. Representative topics of interest could include enzyme engineering, biocatalysis, metabolic engineering, biosensing and diagnostics, genome design, and cellular design and engineering. New approaches that incorporate evolution, selection methods, machine learning, and artificial intelligence are also of interest, as are methods to develop novel biological systems, including microbes, microbiomes, synthetic consortia, and plants, for synthetic biology. We encourage applications from scholars who apply interdisciplinary perspectives across a variety of these domains.
