Job Summary:

Experienced Site Safety Professional with the skills and motivation to support defining the future of safety at Thermo Systems, in partnership with Corporate Safety. Serves the company in the following capacities:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in safety, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Environmental Science or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety management role, preferably in electrical installations, construction, or commissioning environments.

Extensive knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, and other relevant safety standards.

Certifications such as OSHA 30, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA 500 Authorized Outreach Instructor, NFPA 70E, First Aid, MEWPS certified instructor and other pertinent curriculum.

Advanced Safety Certification (CHST, STSC, ASP or CSOP) - REQUIRED

Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate and support corporate safety leadership. Maintain accountability to both project and corporate safety leadership to ensure alignment and consistency with company-wide safety initiatives while meeting site-specific goals.

Lead all safety efforts on-site, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, Meta's internal safety guidelines, and company-wide safety policies as established by Corporate Safety Manager.

Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies, site-specific safety plans, and procedures for all phases of the BMS installation and commissioning process. Align site-specific programs with corporate standards.

Seek guidance from Corporate Safety Manager on safety-related decisions impacting broader company policies.

Regularly review safety protocols and update procedures as needed to align with changes in local regulations, project demands, company safety policies, and best practices.

Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure all activities comply with safety standards.

Escalate any conflicts between project site needs and corporate safety policies to the Corporate Safety Manager for resolution, ensuring alignment with overall company safety objectives.

Identify hazards and risks associated with the installation and commissioning of electrical systems and develop action plans to mitigate these risks.

Manage Daily Hazard Analysis (DHA) program onsite to ensure 100% participation as well as compliance with GC requirements.

Prepare reports and communicate safety issues and recommendations to project and corporate safety leadership.

Develop and deliver safety training programs for both internal teams and subcontractors, ensuring all personnel are properly trained on relevant safety protocols, including equipment, lockout/tagout procedures, electrical safety, PPE usage, and fall protection.

Ensure proper documentation of all safety training, including certifications, incident reports, and compliance with safety procedures.

Lead investigations of any accidents or safety incidents on-site, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Ensure timely reporting of all safety-related incidents and near-misses to project leadership, Corporate Safety Manager, and client safety team, in accordance with company and client protocols.

Coordinate closely with subcontractors to ensure they adhere to all safety protocols and provide safety oversight of their activities.

Develop and implement emergency response plans for incidents such as electrical accidents, fires, and other safety concerns related to the project.

Oversee safety during the commissioning phase, working with internal and vendor teams to manage electrical hazards, control systems testing, and equipment startup.

Provide weekly safety updates to project leadership, highlighting key risks, corrective actions, and site improvements.

Drive a culture of continuous safety improvement, encouraging all project teams to proactively identify potential hazards and suggest safety improvements.

Stay current on industry best practices and emerging safety technologies related to electrical installations and datacenter construction.

Participate in monthly jobsite Safety Syncs (MS Teams) with project management and Corporate Safety Manager to keep abreast of safety successes, opportunities, and gaps to be filled. Site Safety Compliance Matrix (SSCM) to be used as basis for Safety Sync discussions.

Manage Site Safety Compliance Matrix (SSCM) for jobsite to ensure compliance with all federal, state, company, GC, subcontractor, and customer safety requirements.

Ensure toolbox talks and JHAs are conducted/documented on a weekly basis.

Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies.

Identify the relevant regulations depending on country specific requirements.

Ensure compliance of client’s safety regulations (at a minimum).

Presents information to clients and other team members with regards to regulations, policies, procedures, plus onboarding of employees.

Show respect and empathy towards individuals in a multinational project/team.

Integrate and coach best practices/innovations and roll out to the wider team.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Travel required:

Up to 25% travel, as per project requirements.

Tentative travel schedule is as follows:

DeKalb, IL - 2024

Salt Lake City, UT - 2025

Montgomery, AL - 2026

Relocation is expected, at project completion Safety Manager will be required to relocate to new project location.

Other Requirements:

English (fluent) – required. Bilingual - preferred.

Candidate will be required to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED Certification within first year.

Work Authorization/Other Requirements:

Proof of eligibility to work in the country where the position is located is required.

Maintain a valid driver's license.

Fit for Duty at all times.
