OverviewThe Trustees of the Fitzwilliam Town Library seek an innovative and community-minded Library Director. Located in the Monadnock Region, Fitzwilliam is a picturesque town with the historic library building set at the center of a charming village common. The library serves year-round and seasonal residents with a diverse collection of physical and digital materials as well as regularly hosting children and adults for community activities and educational programming on a variety of subjects. An active Friends of the Library group participates in fundraising and library event planning. As stated in the Vision Statement, the library seeks to be “a comprehensive community center for citizens of all ages that makes a significant contribution to the intellectual, social, and cultural vitality of our Town.”The Library Director serves as a critical community resource to the Town of Fitzwilliam, performing supervisory, administrative, and professional work in planning, organizing, and directing all library services. This includes community outreach, collection management, and oversight of all daily library operations including positive and effective communication with staff, patrons, and stakeholders. The Library Director works closely with the Trustees on matters of administration and budgeting as well as collaborating on long-range planning, particularly around the goals outlined in the Strategic Plan including promoting community awareness of library services, shaping the library into a gathering place, and working to diversify revenue streams. The ideal candidate will be committed to staying abreast of emerging technologies and rapidly evolving trends in the library field to enhance the library’s offerings and best meet the community’s needs.Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategic plans that align with the organization's mission and vision.- Oversee daily operations and ensure efficient use of resources.Minimum RequirementsA Master’s degree in Library Science is desirable or, three years of direct experience in library operations, including personnel management, collection development, fiscal management, program development and facility management; supervisory experience preferred.Job Types:
