This teaching position entails instructional and planning responsibilities for providing IB Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Coordinator management to students at DCI during the school year. This content will be taught in English.Salary Range:

$63,113 - $114,845 (Starting salary is determined by education and years of relevant experience)Qualifications:

A Master's Degree in secondary education or this content area is preferred

(Bachelor's Degree is required) . Able to meet HQT requirements under NCLB. Previous experience teaching in the area of career and college preparedness, and/or post-secondary transition is strongly preferred. We are a 1:1 school. Ability to use multiple technology platforms to guide instruction and communicate with students and families and comfort communicating using G Suite tools, including Gmail, is preferred.Ensure fidelity to IB standards and practices.Ensure compliance with IB DP rules and regulations, including, but not limited to: assessment management, testing management, submission of predicted grades, teacher assessed grades and assessments to the IB, and help in requests for accommodations.Coordinating with PPS and CP.Develop, lead and teach a rigorous and challenging TOK course.Spread awareness about the TOK course and its significance to the following audiences: senior leaders, subject teachers, parents and students. Convey enthusiasm and passion for the central role of TOK in developing critical thinking.Develop and implement a Theory of Knowledge course that lasts the two years of the Diploma Programme. The IB recommends at least 100 teaching hours over the two-year period of study.Model a TOK 'habit of mind' - the pedagogy of critical thinking that is central to the subject.Facilitate professional development for all DP subject teachers on the nature of Theory of Knowledge (especially encouraging them to use the subject specific knowledge frameworks).Work collaboratively and reflectively with DP subject teachers to help them integrate Theory of Knowledge into their unit plans.Have knowledge of both the essay assessment instrument and the presentation assessment instrument and have confidence in marking standards.Encourage and support students in the writing of the Extended Essay.Encourage and support students in the writing of the TOK essay, providing the student with advice on and guidance about the skills needed. Ensure that the essay is the student’s own work.Encourage and support students in the preparation of the TOK presentation (including the presentation planning document PPD), providing guidance on presentation skills. Assess the presentation using the presentation assessment instrument.Work with the DP Coordinator to administer the assessment requirements.Work with other members of the high school leadership group to monitor student progress.Other duties as assigned.Faculty and Staff Development/Benefits:
