Job Description

The Department of Political Science at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Political Science, with a focus on American Political Behavior. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a robust research program, contribute to our undergraduate and graduate curriculum, including graduate-level methods and American politics courses, as well as advise MA, MPA, and PhD students. The normal teaching load is a 2/2 and the candidate will have the opportunity to develop their own courses.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Political Science or a related field in hand by July 1, 2025.

A developing or established research agenda in American Political Behavior.

A record of, or potential for, publishing in top-tier journals and presses in relevant fields.

Demonstrated excellence, or clear evidence of potential for excellence, in teaching in the fields of American Political Behavior.

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of, or potential for strong external grant activity.

Evidence of attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion in research, teaching, and/or service.

Compensation Grade/Rank

II, Assistant Professor. Salary is competitive and commensurate with related education and experience.
