The primary focus of the Assistant Coach (Seasonal) will be the vertical jumping events (pole vault & high jump), hurdling events (60mh, 100mh, 110mh, 400mh), multi events (decathlon, heptathlon, pentathlon), relay events, and administrative support (recruiting). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, training athletes on the track & field team, and assisting the head coach in all aspects of pre-season & post-season training, practice, competition, and recruitment. Must be capable of having a flexible practice schedule, monitoring student-athlete academic success, and recruiting strategy for event groups. Also assist the Head Coach in organizing team events, travel logistics, hosting outdoor invitationals, and team fundraising. Adherence to NCAA Division III rules and regulations, supporting the philosophy, goals, and mission of the college and its intercollegiate athletics program, as well as adherence to departmental, university, NACC, and NCAA policies and procedures is required.Essential Job Responsibilities:Assist in the planning, organizing, and administration of event group practice with various practice times available to athletes.Teach proper fundamentals and techniques of vertical jumping events (High Jump & Pole Vault), hurdling events (60mh, 100mh, 110mh, 400mh), and multi events (decathlon, heptathlon, pentathlon) through safe training and long-term development of athletes.Assist with recruiting qualified prospective student-athletes who meet the academic and athletic standards of our program.Assist in organizing logistics for Benedictine University home invitationals, team travel, and fundraising goals.Assist in meet competition preparation and implementation of meet strategies.Other Functions:Develop relationships within and positively promote Benedictine University and its surrounding community.Attend Department and university-related meetings and events as directed.Represent the Department of Athletics with sportsmanship, integrity, and a high degree of professionalism.Create a positive experience and program assessment for the student-athletes.Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers, and fans.Required Qualifications:Education:

Knowledge of NCAA Division III philosophy, recruitment, rules and regulationsSpecific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications:

Yes. Knowledge of NCAA hurdle, vertical jump, and multi events. Valid Driver’s License required. CPR certification is preferred. USATF Level One Certification is preferred.Physical Requirements:Ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather. Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away or are more than a few feet away. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
