About the Job

The School of Dentistry invites applicants for part-time, adjunct faculty to instruct in clinical areas and to serve as attending dentists for the Division of Prosthodontics. Adjunct faculty must be proficient to teach, demonstrate, and assess practice-level procedures in restorative dentistry and to assess and manage dental emergencies. They support the faculty by evaluating the clinical and professional development of students. They are expected to uphold all clinical policies and procedures of the School of Dentistry at the University of Minnesota.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Supervise and mentor students providing patient care in the clinicsSupervise and mentor students in the preclinical laboratoriesAssess students in their daily clinical and preclinical performanceGrade quizzes and examsGrade daily laboratory projects and practical examsAttend lectures and faculty meetings for preclinical coursesOther responsibilities as assigned by Division DirectorThe availability of adjunct faculty positions depends on the teaching, research and service needs of the Division. These needs fluctuate throughout the year.

Qualifications

Required QualificationsDDS, DMD or equivalent degreeCPR/BLS current certificationLicensed and in good standing with the Minnesota Board of DentistryExperience in the practice of ProsthodonticsPreferred Qualifications:Experience in clinical or preclinical teachingExperience in a community outreach settingCompletion of a CODA Accredited Advanced Education Program in ProsthodonticsVisa sponsorship is not available for this position. All qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

About the Department

The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry's Department of Restorative Sciences is one of four departments in the School and is responsible for teaching all dental restorative procedures. The department has four divisions: Prosthodontics, Operative Dentistry, Endodontics and Biomaterials. Courses are generally directed by full-time faculty members with the assistance of part-time and adjunct faculty members.
