Operate a suite of instrumentation for materials synthesis and characterizationWork with the experimental team to validate synthesis and perform characterization of target materialsWork across multiple experiment workflows in parallelMonitor manual and automated data acquisition streams to actively assess data qualityAdhere to data quality best practicesWork with the automation team to evolve workflows from manual, to human-in-the-loop automation, to autonomous experimentationWork with the computational team to establish data processing and data interpretation methods that are suitable for automationAnalyze, report, and present findings of experiments to the FL97 research teamQualifications

Hands-on and direct experience working with characterization techniques, including powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and its integration with electron dispersive spectroscopy (EDS)Experience with interpretation of data from XRD, SEM, EDS, etc. experiments to establish the composition, crystal structure, microstructure, and morphology of materialsExperience with mechanical property testing including nanoindentationKnowledge of solid-state phase diagrams and their utilization in assessing composition-structure-property relationshipsPhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or related fieldStrong self-starter and independent thinker, with strong attention to detailDemonstrated industry experience or academic achievement, as evidenced by publications in quality journalsExcellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough mannerEager to work with highly skilled and dynamic teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and technical settingPreferred Qualifications

Experience with scanning probe microscopy techniquesExperience with thin film and nanoparticle synthesis techniquesExperience with maintenance and safe operation of vacuum instrumentation and lasersExperience with experiment automationExperience with coding and data visualizationLocation:
